Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.  Santa came and left lots of yummy treats for everyone.

Levi's favorite gift from Santa was a bouncy ball.

His favorite gift from us was a car walker toy we gave him a few weeks ago as an early Christmas present.

Levi also turned 9 months old on Christmas day.

The Holiday Season

The tree is up,

the stockings are hung,

and the Christmas lights are glowing.

I just love Christmas decorations.  And I am so excited this year for Levi's first Christmas.  After 5 Holiday Seasons of it being just Matt and I, this will be a time to remember.  I want so badly to do all sorts of family holiday traditions.  Sadly, Levi is still a bit young for most of them.  But just the thought of having future holidays with him makes me so happy.

Family Photos

This year I wanted to send out Christmas cards with a family photo in it.  Because we can't pay to have someone take them for us I tried to take them myself.  Before I met Matt I did a bit of photography.  My graduation present was a nice camera of my fathers.  But I was more into the artistic side of it, rather than doing portraits.

So doing family photos was a new experience for me.

While it was fun throwing leaves up in the air to try and get Levi to smile and look towards the camera.  It was just too cold out, and too late in the day to spend the amount of time I wanted taking photos.

So we asked a family friend to try and take some for us.  He was so kind as to do it for free (thanks again to Ben for taking the time to do us this favor), but again the timing and weather was causing us problems.  So we had to move it indoors.

In the end we did get some good photos, and it was difficult to decide what ones we wanted to use.  But over all it was a fun adventure for the Tandy family.

Happy Thanksgiving

Levi turned 8 months old today.  He just loved eating all of the yummy Thanksgiving day food.

One step at a time

Around the same time Levi started pulling himself up, he started taking his first steps.  I don't know why it took me so long to get a good video of him walking, but here it is.

Happy Halloween

This year we dressed up as Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Swee'Pea.

I came up with the idea last year when I was pregnant with Levi.  It took me over a month to make the costumes, but I think it was worth it.  We did win 3rd, and 2nd place for our costumes at two of the parties we went to.

I had to include a pic of my shoes because they took the most time to make, and I am so proud of how they turned out.

Our 5 Year Anniversary

This month Matt and I are celebrating a milestone anniversary.  It's amazing how fast time goes by.  Five years ago Matt and I were sealed for time and all eternity in the Houston, TX LDS Temple.

When Matt proposed to me he didn't have the ring with him.  So this is how he chose to give it to me:

I love our Garden!

I am so excited about our vegetable garden this year!  We have one of the largest yards in our neighborhood, with lots of room for gardening.  Our total gardening space is 375 sq ft.  We planted Artichoke; Pinto Beans; Broccoli; Carrots; Cauliflower; Celery; Corn; Cucumber; Garlic; Lettuce; Spinach; Cilantro; Bulb Onions; Green Onions; Peas; Potatoes; Pumpkin; Squash; Swiss Chard; Tomatoes; and Watermelon.  Plus we have a Strawberry patch that comes up annually.  We have been harvesting so much food!  The only things we may not be getting a harvest from is the Artichoke, Cauliflower, Celery, and Watermelon.  But I still have hope for the Cauliflower and Celery.  I have been canning, freezing and making some baby food for Levi.  Here is a picture of some of our beautiful home grown produce.

Levi is 6 months old!

Today Levi is 6 months old!  I can't believe he is getting so big.  Every month I take a picture of Levi with the same teddy bear to show how much he has grown.  You can see all of them on the side link, "Watching Levi grow".

Levi's army crawl

Though Levi is only 5 months old he is already quite capable of getting to where he wants to go.  It started with him doing an inch worm move where he used more of his head and neck, rather than his arms, to inch his way forward.  Now he has moved on to a "commando" style crawl.  Here is an adorable video of him doing his army crawl.

Hello Family and friends

Hello everyone, and welcome to my very first blog.  Now that I have my own laptop and am a stay at home mom, I am having a harder time finding excuses not to send out updates about my family.  So the easiest way in my mind to keep everyone up to date is to start a blog.  I can't promise that I will always stay on top of making posts, but I will try.  There are a lot of stories to tell, and pictures, and videos to post.  And though I am a stay at home mom, I do still have a lot to do.  So please be patient with me.
